Dr. Edward Williams, Principal

Greetings Lion Family,

It is a great honor and pleasure to introduce myself as the new Principal of Mount Zion Elementary School. I sincerely hope that this letter finds everyone rejuvenated and refreshed and ready to make a positive impact on our scholars for this upcoming 2023-2024 School Year.

With that being said I want to welcome everyone to the 2023-2024 school year! We are thrilled and excited to welcome our students and staff back in the building. We hope that you were able to relax and make special memories with your family and friends. Now it is time to get down to the business of teaching and learning.

As the new Chief Learning Officer of Mount Zion Elementary school, I will continue to create a positive nurturing atmosphere and make a significant impact to the entire school climate. This school year marks my 26th year in education. I actually began my educational journey as a P.E. Paraprofessional as well as a DES Paraprofessional. My 1st year teaching was as a SEBD Teacher in Cobb County and an Interrelated Teacher in Dekalb County. My administrative journey began as an Assistant Principal in Paulding County. I have also served as an Assistant Principal in Atlanta Public Schools before being awarded my 1st principalship at West Clayton Elementary, where I served there for the past 6 six years.

It is our mission to create a fun and loving environment in which everyone feels like family. Building quality relationships is the foundation for great teaching and learning. When relationships are nurtured, student achievement increases. Our dedicated staff have worked hard over the summer engaging in professional learning opportunities, all in an effort to sharpen their skills to foster academic success.

Mount Zion Elementary School is a special place to learn and grow. As we continue to focus on student achievement, we look forward to working with parents and the community to create and maintain a school culture that prepares students for middle school and beyond. The old adage “It takes a village” still holds true today. Parents we need your undying support to ensure our scholars are moving in the right direction.

To our scholars, I can’t wait to meet each and everyone of you! I hope you are excited for this upcoming school year. I assure you that this will be a fun year of teaching and learning!

Lastly, one of the most important things in a school day is being on time! School doors open promptly at 7:00 a.m. with breakfast being served. All scholars should be in class, ready to learn no later than 7:45 a.m. Key instructional minutes are missed when scholars arrive late daily. Parents, let’s make sure you are doing your best to get your children, our scholars here on time.

In closing, please know that I am here to serve. Feel free to reach out via the email address listed below or call to make an appointment to speak with me to discuss any ideas you feel will make this the best year yet!

Educationally,

Dr. Edward Williams

Principal/Chief Learning Officer
